kundalini yoga for ropes

Kundalini Yoga is a powerful form of yoga that aims to activate and elevate the vital energy in our body by concentrating on the chakras, our energy centers.

The similarities between Kundalini Yoga’s intense practice and Shibari are striking, making them complementary practices worth exploring.

For Who

From absolute beginners to the very experienced.

  • No yoga experience required.

  • The course is designed for both riggers and models to learn.

  • The course is set up to follow as an individual, but of course, you can come as a couple too.

What the course includes

The Kundalini for Ropes workshop is an opportunity to experience the flow of vital energy within your body. We will use breathwork, static and dynamic postures, white tantra practice and meditation to ground the mind, focus on sensations (pain or pleasure!) and create a state of enhanced awareness.

  • Introduction: Foundations of Kundalini Yoga and analogies with Shibari.

  • Customized sequence of postures (Kryia) and meditation (similar to the sequence of a rope session and aftercare).

  • The Kundalini for Ropes workshop will explore a different thematic each month, building up on your wishes and needs, to help you expand the physical and spiritual experience within the ropes.

  • Closing circle.

Instructor

Maud has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years and is an ANS-certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. She also works with astrology and tarot to integrate symbolism in her practice, as a path to finding the teacher within yourself and reconnecting to the soul.

Her TIEY courses are designed from her own experience, both as a rigger and a model.

Language

The workshop is given in English. One on one corrections can also be given in Dutch or French.

EQUIPMENT

Clothing

  • Please wear yoga or sports clothes that you feel comfortable in, considering both movement and temperature.

  • We practice barefoot or with socks.

  • Bring a yoga mat, a pillow or bolster (zafu) and a warm blanket to cover yourself during relaxation.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Aside of the benefits of yoga on itself and in the Shibari practice in general, the underlying foundations can help you to understand and diversify your practice by including them into your own way of tying.

  • For models: Gain flexibility in postures, learn to keep up or surrender to the process, acquire yoga breathing techniques to channel emotions in discomfort and enhance the Shibari journey.

  • For riggers: Experience what the model might feel during a session, create body communication, develop new ways to colour a rope session and to set intentions.
